COVID-19 Resources
In late 2019 an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a new coronavirus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” or COVID-19.
On March 9, 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency and the state had its first known case. On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, acknowledging the virus will likely spread to all countries.
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH), in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is closely monitoring the disease. ODH updates its webpage daily to reflect the situation in Ohio with the number of confirmed cases, the number of counties with a case, the number of hospitalizations, and the number of deaths.
